Speculaas cake

Nothing tastes better than a thick slice of cake with your coffee! This delicious speculaas cake, containing the speculaas paste of De Ruiter's Bakery, is very easy to make yourself.

    Requirements

  • 200 grams butter
  • 175 grams caster sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 200 grams self-rising baking flour
  • 2 tablespoons speculaas paste
  • 2 tablespoons speculaas spices
  • Almond shavings
  • Lemon zest (from half of a washed lemon)
  • Half a teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • Cake pan (25 cm)
  • Mixing bowl
  • Mixer
  1. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees. 
  1. Add the butter, salt and caster sugar together in a bowl and mix until a cream is formed. 
  1. Add the self-rising baking flour and speculaaskruiden (speculaas spices). 
  1. Beat the eggs into the batter one at a time. 
  1. Grate the lemon and add the vanilla extract and speculaas paste. 
  1. Briefly mix the batter again and pour into the cake pan. 
  1. Sprinkle almond shavings over the cake and place the mold in the oven. 
  1. Bake the cake for about 50 minutes. 
  1. Bon appétit!
